I love this quote I heard recently, read by the Headmaster, James Priory, at Portsmouth Grammar School.  It's slightly adapted from version from Guillame Apollinaire (french poet, 1880-1918)

"Come to the edge, he said.
But we're afraid, they said.
Come to the edge, he said.
They came.  They jumped.  They flew." 

Are you near the edge?  Are you jumping?  Are you flying?
